Our academic partners
Smart College is a UK-registered education provider. Your award is always issued by the awarding body named on the programme — this page introduces each of them.
Our main agreement is with Kaplan, through which the Liverpool and Essex programmes are delivered. The award is issued by the university — not by Kaplan, and not by us.

Kaplan Higher Education UK
Kaplan Higher Education UK Limited is the organisation that delivers the online degree programmes of two British universities, and it is the partner Smart College holds its principal agreement with. The company is registered in England and Wales under number 06245017, with its registered office at Palace House, 3 Cathedral Street, London SE1 9DE. Both universities state the relationship on their own sites. The University of Essex Online says its courses "are delivered by Kaplan Higher Education UK", and University of Liverpool Online says its programmes are "delivered in partnership with Kaplan Higher Education UK". Kaplan delivers the teaching, the learning platform and the student support. It does not award degrees. Every qualification on these programmes is awarded by the university named on the programme — the University of Essex or the University of Liverpool — and that university sets the entry requirements, examines the work and issues the certificate. Smart College is the provider that supports admission, study and progression. The programmes themselves are listed under the two awarding universities: University of Essex Online and University of Liverpool Online.

These are not awarding bodies — they regulate qualifications, hold the official registers, or evaluate credentials. They are kept separate because mixing them in with the universities was what made the old page hard to read.
